WaterAid Campaigner

What You'll Do: 
  • Attending regular workshops to build your skills across Campaigning, Advocacy & Media. 
  • Joining regular group calls with your cohort to help build community and networks. 
  • Attending campaigns and advocacy events in person in support of our ‘Time to Deliver’ campaign. 
  • Encouraging the UK public to take online and in-person campaign actions e.g petition signing, writing to their MPs.  
  • Building relationships with your local MP and elected representatives.  
  • Using social media to raise awareness and inspire change.   
  • Engaging with media via newspapers, radio stations or TV.  
  • Inspiring new activists and volunteers. 
  • Coming together at an in-person campaigning day and contributing ideas to the design and strategy of WaterAid’s future campaigns.  
  • Getting involved with other WaterAid volunteer activities such as festival volunteering, community fundraising, WaterAid’s Speaker Network.

Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity. We work alongside communities worldwide setting up entire systems that deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for millions. And we get the people, policies and money in place to keep these systems working – and the water flowing for good.   

 

uring your six-month campaigner training, you’ll receive dedicated support to build your skills across campaigning, advocacy and media. You will carry out a range of both online and in-person campaigning and advocacy actions and have the opportunity to take part in high-profile events and action days.  

 

This role is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to build skills in campaigning and advocacy within the international development sector. As a WaterAid Campaigner, you will also become part of the WaterAid Campaigner Network, rallying public and political support for ending the global WASH crisis.  If you believe there must be global action on water, join us now! 

What We're Looking For: 
  • A passion for WaterAid’s work and determination to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere.   
  • Enthusiasm to amplify WaterAid’s campaigning and advocacy work on social media, in the community and with your political representatives.  
  • A friendly approach and strong inter-personal skills, with an ability to build and maintain relationships.  
  • Willingness to engage and encourage others to take part in WaterAid campaigns actions.  
  • A desire to become a strong campaigner and advocate and learn from WaterAid staff members and other volunteers.  
  • Commitment to attend monthly online workshops and check-ins. 
  • Commitment to attend at least one in-person WaterAid event such as Time to Deliver campaign stunt, UK government campaign hand-in etc. 
  • We are committed to ensuring our volunteer team reflects the diverse community we serve. To help us achieve a multi-generational perspective, we particularly welcome applications from younger volunteers (aged 18–35). 
  • The right to volunteer in the UK. If you are from a country outside the UK, you will need to check whether your visa allows you to volunteer.
