Volunteer Escort for the Day Hospice

What You'll Do: 

· To escort Daycare patients between the Hospice and their home, travelling on the hospice minibus, in the company of a MIDAS trained driver. Most journeys will be to bring patients into Daycare, but on occasions volunteer escorts will be asked to accompany patients into the hospice for an out patient appointment.

· Assist in getting patients into the ambulance

· Ensure seatbelts are worn at all times (unless the patient has a seat belt exemption from their GP).

· Assist the patient into their home if they are on wheelchairs/walking aides.

· Both driver and escort will be responsible for the patient’s welfare and safety whilst in the minibus.

· If a patient requires oxygen, Day Hospice staff, will provide training,

· Chatting to patients on their journey

What You'll Learn: 

Gain transferable skills and experience in the retail and charity sector

Training

· Completion of mandatory STJH training.

· Happy to talk to patients

Qualifications required:

· DBS check.
