Experience in delivering educational activities in this context is a strong advantage.

Your role would include:

  • Planning and delivering lessons for classes that can range from A0 (illiteracy) to B2, taking into account individual differences in level within each class
  • Preparing class materials and assessments
  • Empowering students with interpersonal  – and life – skills; and incorporating these skills into lesson planning
  • Completing various administrative tasks such as tracking attendance and communicating class updates to the students
  • Ensuring student engagement and progress
  • Working closely with the Education Manager to ensure the programme is being delivered to the expected standards of Second Tree
  • Participating in various community engagement activities so as to maintain relationships with students outwith the classroom context such as: picnics, community lunches, sporting events, etc.

  • Work independently and in a team
  • Have strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Communicate in an open, honest, direct manner
  • Manage a wide range of tasks and intense workload effectively and efficiently
  • Be dependable, and willing to adapt when necessary

What do we offer?

  • A nurturing and collaborative working environment. We work hard to help our volunteers grow; investing in personal and professional development.
  • Accommodation in a shared house
  • Transportation to/from work
  • After completion of a three-month trial, if you commit long-term, a small monthly expenses refund

In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available.
