Education Mentor at The Prince's Trust

Education Mentor at The Prince's Trust

What You'll Do:

You will work within a team of Education Mentors to design and deliver development activities over 7 sessions to a group of 20-30 young people. These sessions will aim to build group rapport and cover a variety of topics such as teamwork, communication and resilience. You will be supported through this process by a Prince’s Trust Youth Development Lead.

Key Resposibilities:

  • Understanding the circumstances of the young people involved in our programmes and how this role supports their success.
  • Facilitating a designated group 3-6  young people (within the wider group), establishing rapport, and supporting participation, reflection, and learning within the group.
  • Participating in the end of programme feedback and celebrations providing a positive closure for participating young people.
  • Sharing relevant, learning, materials and useful resources that benefit young people and our work.
  • If desired, contributing to other areas of The Trust’s work and community as opportunities arise.
Why You'll Love It:

By volunteering to be an Education Mentor, you will be helping to shape the next generation.  You will be working with groups of young people helping them to unlock their potential. The Mosaic programme was developed with a particular focus on raising the aspirations, self-efficacy and employability of the young people who take part. One of the key ways this is achieved is through connecting more young people to positive, diverse, relatable role model mentors.

What You'll Learn:

In return for your valuable time, we provide the benefits of being part of a dedicated community of colleagues and volunteers, the satisfaction of directly impacting our success, and the undoubted personal development and pleasure that comes from working for the cause of, or directly with young people, the majority of whom face significant barriers and have significant challenges to overcome.

What We're Looking For:

Being a role model with a growth and progress story that young people can relate to. Building trust with young people from a range of backgrounds. Someone who is a great communicator, positive, encouraging, able to give and receive constructive corrective feedback and reinforce learning and progress.
