Kitchen Volunteer

What You'll Do: 
  • Help with the preparation, delivery and cleaning up of our lunch service.
  • Serve clients in an equitable and welcoming manner.
  • Attend relevant volunteer meetings and training sessions.
  • Contribute to a welcoming environment.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of SDCAS, including Boundaries, Confidentiality, Vulnerable Adults, Safeguarding Children, and Equal Opportunities. Flag concerns about the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of clients to your supervisor.
  • Immediately report any safeguarding concerns that arise during client conversations through our safeguarding reporting procedure.
What You'll Learn: 

We are looking for volunteers to join this team in-person at our South London Mission centre on a Monday. By volunteering with us you will learn new culinary skills and play a vital role in our hot meal service.

What We're Looking For: 
  • Able to commit to at least 4 hours a week on a Monday at our South London Mission (Bermondsey) site 
  • Able to commit to volunteering with us for at least 3 months, on a weekly basis (with the exception of holidays).
  • A non-judgemental attitude; adept at interacting with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Experience of working with asylum seekers or refugees is desirable but not required.
  • Experience of working in a community kitchen/serving food before is desirable but not required.
